In order to respond to the potential cholera threat, the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division of the Department of Health Services implemented the ‘Comprehensive Targeted Intervention (CTI) for Cholera Control in the Kathmandu Valley’ in the year 2016. This document reports the proceedings of a workshop held at the Himalaya Hotel in Lalitpur on 15 December 2016 to reflect the successes and challenges faced by the CTI project and the country’s cholera control programme.
The overall goal of the workshop was to strengthen government-led preparedness and response for cholera outbreaks.
The specific objectives were to:
- bring together the main stakeholders for the opportunity to reflect on cholera preparedness and responses and to discuss lessons learned from the 2016 cholera response; and
- draw out and document insights for a national plan for cholera preparedness and response.
