first site investigator regional meeting for SEAP Surveillance for Enteric
Fever in Asia Project was held in Kathmandu, Nepal at Radisson Hotel ?
Lazimpat on 25-28 February 2015. Altogether, 19 participants attended the three-day
meeting delegation from World Health Organization, Geneva ? Switzerland; Group
for Technical Assistance, Lalitpur ? Nepal; Child Health Research Foundation,
Dhaka ? Bangladesh; Bill & Melinda
Gates Foundation, Seattle, WA?US; Aga Khan University, Karachi ? Pakistan;
Fondation Merieux, Lyon ? France; Sabin Vaccine Institute, Washington, DC ? US;
and Center for Disease Control, Atlanta, GA--US.
Each
representative presented on a unique topic: WHO presented on enteric fever
control; Gates Foundation on expectations and strategy; Nepal on
typhoid/enteric fever initiatives in the past and for the future (ViVA, CaT
Nepal); Pakistan on typhoid/enteric fever initiatives in the past and for the
future (ViVA, GEMS, others); Bangladesh on typhoid/enteric fever initiatives in
the past and for the future (IB-VPD); and Nepal on SEAP preliminary activities
and results.
